Find Your Song: A Songwriting Workshop with Myra Flynn

Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Myra Flynn has spent more than 15 years helping aspiring musicians find their voices and turn their ideas into songs. A longtime songwriter and recording artist herself, Myra has taught songwriting in New York City and Los Angeles and brings a working musician’s perspective to the craft. And now she's bringing those skills back to her home state, Vermont. 

In this four-day workshop at Chandler, Myra will demystify the songwriting process, sharing practical tools for developing an idea, shaping a song, and weaving life experiences into stories told through music. Students will develop a concept for an original song and learn how to move that idea from the spark of inspiration toward a finished piece.

The first sessions focus on songwriting fundamentals and developing each student’s individual song. Later sessions center on works-in-progress, group feedback, and the creative process of refining a song without losing what made it compelling in the first place.

Myra will also pull back the curtain on the realities of being a working musician in 2026, including marketing, booking, recording, and building a sustainable creative life.

No previous songwriting experience is required. Students will work with both lyrics and music, but you do not need to read music or play an instrument. If you do play an instrument, bring it along—we’ll put it to work.

Friday October 30 — songwriting culmination for friends and family
